*** YouTube Site Redesign Complaints ***
Gene`s BMX News -- 07/08/2009
YouTube video web site readies for redesign with lots of complaints.
JULY 15th 2009 YouTube.com will changeover to a new web site design.
Gene`s BMX gave YouTube`s news web site layout a small test drive.
Lots of people do not like the new redesign. It loads slow, Things do not
line up and it is hard to find video contents on the new web site design.
The new layout makes it hard for people to just surf in to look at videos.
Gene`s BMX uses a High-speed Fiber Internet Connection and using
Mozilla/Firefox 3.0.11 Browser and also the Microsoft 8.0 I.E. Browser
and the new YouTube.com redesign loads up way slow. YouTube.coms
new layout uses to much java and flash scripts, makes for slow loading.
When just surfing in to a YouTube page that has the new layout on it,
it is slow and sluggish. All the video contents are lined on to the right
of the page, all balled up in to one column making it hard to just surf in
to find videos, playlists, favorites. In the new layout there is no My Vlog.
People would be better off just using the YouTube.com (Search) to find
your video contents than as to surf in to this new sluggish user web page
layout. In all, that is what YouTube.com is forcing on its users as this new
layout is not to well thought out.....
Everyone that has a YouTube.com page will be forced, want it or not
on JULY 15th 2009 to the new layout. It would be nice if YouTube.com
would give the option to keep the old layout to its users, - they do not.
Nothing like users being forced in to something they do not want to do.
Gene`s BMX YouTube page will remain on the current older layout style
un-till YouTube.com forces the changeover. The new layout is a negative.
Gene`s BMX may be dropping out from being on and using the web site.

Gene`s BMX.com has made a videos test page for options just in
case YouTube`s new web site redesign does not work out for us.
( http://www.genesbmx.com/youtube.html ) This is just a test drive web
page for options on Gene`s BMX.com for Past & Highlight Videos.
I guess for now, un-till YouTube.com forces the web site changeover
Gene`s BMX is not going to do to much till we see what happens with it.
YouTube plans to soon switch all of its members to a redesign
of its channel pages that it has been testing for several months,
although many people want the Google video-sharing site to
give them the option to keep the old layout.
YouTube members have left 316 pages with tens of thousands
of comments, most of them negative, on a recent official blog
posting in which Google announced that all channel pages will
be switched over to the new design on July 15th 2009.
In that announcement, posted on June 24th 2009 and titled
"New Channels Coming Soon," Google also stated that all new
accounts are now being created by default with the new design.
Google believes that the new design will provide in general a better
user experience both for YouTube visitors as well as for members,
who can upload videos, post information about themselves and
aggregate favorite clips on their "channel" pages.
The new design will make it easier for visitors to browse and
watch videos, and give members more options to personalize
their channels, according to Google.
However, thousands vehemently disagree, judging by the barrage
of comments made mostly by members who dislike the new design.
In recent comments to the June 24th 2009 posting, those opposed
to the redesign seem to be planning a YouTube "blackout" from July
10th 2009 to July 14th, 2009 in an attempt to get Google to budge
and at least offer an option to remain on the current layout for those
who prefer it.
Upset members have also left negative comments aplenty in a
YouTube page where Google has posted a video explaining the
reasons for the redesign and its main features.
Asked for comment, Google provided via e-mail a statement
from YouTube Product Manager Brian Glick, in which he said that
the company is sorry that "some folks are upset" but that more
than 1 million members have voluntarily opted into the new
design already.
"We set out to make the channels more customizable and a better
way to engage with the owner and their videos. We reached out to
members of the community and created a special blog. That input
helped us create the new design and we're continuing to incorporate
people's feedback," Glick said.
