Fruitland elementary student, Tynan Ady kicked off the 2011 BMX racing season with
three consecutive wins during the inaugural ABA Silver Dollar BMX national event at
the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada this past weekend. Reno was the site of the
first American Bicycle Association BMX event of the year.
With more than 2,500 riders in attendance at the indoor event riders came from as
far away as Florida. Ady came to find out how he was going to do against America’s
best for 2011.
In the eight year old division, the name that was floating
around was Ady who led every race from start to finish.
‘It was only my second national ,’ Ady said.
‘So it was awesome to beat everyone during all three days of racing.’
His first national race was over Labor Day weekend where he was able to make
the podium all three days but with results ranging from first, second, and third.
Ady competed on his incredibly light weight
race bike against some of the nation’s best.
The course consisted of a track containing 15 jumps and three 180-degree turns.
Qualifying took place each day and found Ady not only winning every qualifier but
also every main event from start to finish. He won three first place trophies stating
that he was the champion of the weekend. Ady competes in the American Bicycle
Association and just recently moved up to the Intermediate class for eight year olds.
During 2011 Ady will be racing select national events while
competing at local tracks in Caldwell, Kuna, Eagle, and Mountain Home.
“It’s hard to practice in the winter but I have one of the best bikes there is and
I practice a lot at home on my starting gate, jumping, and doing sprints to help
my speed,” Ady said.
Ady is looking forward to his next national race that
takes place in Redmond, Oregon at the end of February.
